Futurama Redux — Urban Mobility After Cars
September 8 – September 16
Futurama Redux is the first U.S. showing of an international travelling exhibition on the future of transport that has been exhibited in Vienna, Hong Kong, and other cities. Futurama Redux was inspired by the Futurama exhibition at the 1939 World’s Fair, which predicted (and celebrated) our auto, highway, and gasoline-dominated present. Futurama Redux imagines how we undo the 1939 Futurama paradigm (which we still live within) to achieve efficient and clean urban mobility by the Year 2050. Futurama Redux opens a space for discussion regarding how we in the Pacific Northwest might work backwards from a desired 2050 future to guide transportation and land use changes we make over the coming years.
- Fun with a bike: The bike is only a tool to greater happiness. You’re encouraged to host events that aren’t “about the bike” but are cooler because a bike is incidentally involved.
- Liability: We’re just a calendar for you to advertise your event. You’re responsible for the participants on your own ride/activity. If you want to cover your liability concerns, adapt & use the League of American Bicyclists ride waiver.
- Plan ahead: Here’s a comic to help you out.
